Carrying Out a Special Inspection on Water and Electricity Metering to Safeguard Public Welfare

To ensure the accuracy and reliability of civil metering instruments and to let residents use water and electricity with clarity, the Wenquan Market Supervision Office of the Huangshan Administrative Committee organized a special inspection on public livelihood metering within its jurisdiction, targeting water and electricity supply enterprises as well as residential areas such as Ziyun New Village and Xiaoyaoting.

Law enforcement officers visited water and power supply companies to conduct detailed inspections, checking whether water and electricity meters had undergone the mandatory initial verification in accordance with the law, whether the enterprises had sound metering management systems, whether their metering equipment records were complete and detailed, and whether the archives for the procurement, installation, usage, and replacement of metering devices were properly maintained.

In the Ziyun New Village and Xiaoyaoting areas, the officers randomly inspected residents’ water and electricity meters, focusing on whether the meters were intact and whether the seals were complete. They also provided residents with information on water and electricity metering, aiming to raise awareness of metering accuracy and consumer rights protection.

The inspection found that the inspected enterprises had relatively complete routines for maintaining and regularly inspecting metering devices, with no evidence of human interference affecting measurement accuracy. Moving forward, the Office will establish a long-term regulatory mechanism, strengthen training and publicity on metering laws and regulations, enhance enterprises’ sense of responsibility and metering management capabilities, and effectively protect residents’ lawful rights to fair water and electricity usage.
