On September 9, during the 11th UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference held in Chile, deputy director of the Huangshan Scenic Area Administrative Committee, on behalf of Huangshan UNESCO Global Geopark, and Professor Nikolas Zouros, President of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network and Director of the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest, jointly renewed the “Sister Geopark” friendship agreement.
During the signing ceremony, the deputy director gave a detailed account to Professor Zouros of the achievements Huangshan UNESCO Global Geopark has made in geopark development, resource protection, and tourism since the two sides first signed the agreement in 2008. He also clearly expressed the commitment that, following this renewal, Huangshan is willing to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with Lesvos Island UNESCO Global Geopark and work hand in hand to promote the high-quality development of the global geoparks initiative.
