On May 19, under the theme “Splendid Landscapes, Wonderful Journeys”, the 2025 China Tourism Day – Huangshan Tourism Culture & Tech Carnival officially opened at Xihai Square in the Huangshan Geopark. Key representatives from the Huangshan Geopark Administrative Committee, Tencent Interactive Entertainment, Huangshan Tourism Development Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang Radio & Television Group attended the opening ceremony.

At 10 a.m., Xihai Square came alive with performances of traditional cultural arts, including the Intangible Cultural Heritage face-changing show, the Liyang War Drums, and the vibrant Fish and Dragon Dance. These folk performances, set against the stunning backdrop of Huangshan, highlighted the charm of Chinese culture.

One of the event’s main attractions was the debut of “Tiandu Pine Echo – Fufu”, a Huangshan-themed guardian spirit jointly created by Tencent’s League of Legends: Wild Rift and the Huangshan Scenic Area. Accompanied by live cosplay interactions and themed photo zones, the collaboration drew in crowds of young visitors. Immersive installations like themed checkpoints and creative signboards across the scenic area invited tourists to take part in the “Cloud Sea Quest” – an activity inspired by “guardian spirit exploration travel.” Players could check in at iconic landmarks like Flying Rock and Welcoming Pine, scan QR codes to receive in-game rewards, and experience a seamless fusion of real-world travel and online gameplay.

Also drawing attention at the event were high-tech displays from Unitree Robotics, whose humanoid robot Unitree G1 and robot dog shared the stage with Huangshan’s cartoon mascot Huazai. The robots captivated visitors with their agile movements and playful interactions with Huazai, generating laughter and excitement all around.

The carnival’s overarching theme, “Empowering Huangshan with Digital Technology – Igniting a New Future for Culture & Tourism”, was brought to life through a variety of engaging formats including interactive tech experiences, digital tourism showcases, and traditional cultural performances. Supported by Zhejiang Radio & TV Group’s Z Video live broadcast platform, the event highlighted the fusion of Huangshan’s natural wonders, cultural heritage, and digital innovation. It delivered a cultural and tourism extravaganza where tradition met technology, signaling a bold new direction in Huangshan’s “culture + tech” journey.
