On October 25, the Round Table Conference on Green Development of World Heritage Sites was held in the Forbidden City in Beijing. Dozens of experts and scholars from the National Cutural Heritage Administration, the National Meteorological Administration, the China Society for Circular Economy, the China Association of Environmental Sanitation, the China Association for the Protection of Monuments and Sites, Peking University, the Dunhuang Research Institute, the National Natural Museum and other institutions, as well as UNESCO, the International Council on Monuments and Sites and some embassies of countries in China gathered together to deeply discuss the strategies and paths of green development of world heritage sites. The director of the Palace Museum attended the meeting and presided over the release of the "Zero Waste Action Manual for World Heritage Sites and Museums", advocating for the establishment of a green development alliance for heritage sites.
The person in charge of environmental sanitation management of the Garden Development Branch of Mount Huangshan Tourism Development Co., Ltd. was invited to participate in the meeting to share experience entitled "Synergies between Pollution and Carbon Reduction and Heritage Protection - Internal Logic of Mount Huangshan Natural Stone Garbage Pool", which not only systematically introduced the measures of Mount Huangshan's protection and management, such as "one tree, one policy", "closed rotation", "zero carbon scenic area", "garbage down the mountain", "initiative to reduce the maximum load" and "drone mountain application", but also explained the natural stone garbage pool as an example, and called for promoting local legislation to restrict (designate or prohibit) the food with heavy environmental pollution, such as instant noodles and self heating rice in the world heritage site, won the general attention and praise of the participants.
